Hi! New member on the forum! I live in Kodiak, AK with my husband and daughter. My husband salmon seines in the summer and does tanner crab in the winter.

We’re gearing up for the salmon season and I’m getting ready to spend the summer solo parenting our super busy toddler. Looking forward to talking to more POCFs!

Also, if anyone knows someone who wants to jump on a Kodiak salmon boat for the summer, we’re still looking and crew is SUPER thin on the ground up here this year *facepalm*

Everyone we talk to is talking to ten other boats besides us!

Hi Tyler! I’m over here on the east coast! Alaska is on my bucket list!

What is the season like for Kodiak salmon?

Hey, Tyler! Did y’all end up finding crew for the season?

The season runs from June through September. My husband describes our season as “A long grind then SO MUCH FISH then another long grind.” lol

We did! They are out fishing now and seem to be a great group!

Hey, Tyler! So happy to hear he’s got a great crew this year! Here’s to SO MUCH FISH! I love that description. So true. And it’s not like they can prepare to lessen the load when the fish run. It’s all or nothing. Hope they have a bountiful season!

Also, have I asked if you would be interested in being a guest on the podcast yet? It would be AMAZING to hear about your experiences as a new mom and how you’ve navigated it. If so, I can send Qs over in advance, and we can figure out a good day and time that works for you! No pressure, but the door is always open. I know others would love to meet you and learn more about your fishery. Big hug from NC!
