Hey, y’all! This forum has been a long time coming, so I am beyond THRILLED to have a place on the internet to call our own.
About me: My name is Megan Waldrep, and my husband is Chris Dabney. (Still haven’t changed my name. Haha!) We’ve been together for over seven years and married for almost two. (We married in Charleston, SC, on April 21st, 2021.) My hubby is a second-generation lobster fisherman who currently fishes spiny lobster at the Channel Islands off the coast of Ventura/Santa Barbara, California. His season runs from October to March, with a few “shoulder” weeks to prep and wind down each year. We’ve lived in Ojai for the past two lobster seasons, but I’m now living in Wilmington, NC, while he fishes in California. Yes, I miss him AND I love my alone time. It’s a mixed bag. 😉 Excited to cook meals for him when he comes to visit for the holidays.
Chris has fished salmon in Bristol Bay, Alaska, for fifteen summers in a row, but this year was his first summer off. He’s stoked. It was an adjustment to have him available all summer, but, spoiler alert, I loved it! We sold and bought a new house and spent the summer fixing it up before he left for CA at the end of August. I’m currently typing from my at-home office and I am trilled to have my own space. 🙂
