Hey, Nikki! Would you be interested in being on our new POCF podcast? I know others would love to learn about your experiences getting into the industry. We could also do an open chat with whatever questions you may have. Believe me, there are many others who understand what you’re going through, no matter what it is! Let me know if this speaks to you. I’d be honored to have you!

Hey, Marissa! Would you be interested in being on our new POCF podcast? I’d love to get to know you more and have others learn what it’s like to have worked in numerous fisheries! So interesting that y’all have been a part of fisheries along the East Coast. And finding your dream home in the White Mountains of New Hampshire is inspiring.  If you’re open to it (whoo hoo!), we can schedule a day and time that works best for you. Probably will be around 30 minutes on Zoom. Just let me know, and we’ll go from there! Thanks for being here and connecting with others in the forum. Your presence means more than you know! <3

I’m so sorry to hear about your foot!! Yes, call up your friends. That song “Lean On Me” was a hit for a reason! 🙂 Glad to hear things are going well for you this summer. The sunshine seems to bring levity to situations (and yard work means a little tanner, too!) Ha! :).  All is good here. I’m writing to you from a Starbucks in Hyannis, Massachusettes. We’ve been van-life-ing it from “Downeast Maine” and making our way back to Wilmington, NC, for the summer. I’m so grateful to have seen many fisheries along the way. Makes me realize how bonded we are a community. Even if we don’t live near the water, we are connected through the big Ocean and our joys and challenges as fishermen and POCFs! Incredibly adventurous life we all lead.

Speaking of, would you have interest in being a guest on the new POCF podcast? It would be super interesting to hear about your experiences as a POCF from Southeast Michigan!

Love the journal idea. Especially the “throw away” 😆. That’s hilarious! How’s everything going for y’all so far?

Hey, Tyler! Did y’all end up finding crew for the season?

Hey, Marissa! SO glad you’re here! I love seeing that you’ve connected with other POCFs on the forum. A dream come true to see us link up like this! (Wipes tear.) 🙂 Everything you said is COMPLETELY relatable. A rollercoaster is a great way to describe it. With a few tweaks and a little help from our POCF sisters, it can be a more enjoyable ride. You took the first step by being with us on this forum. What helps me most is chatting with other women who understand <3

Regarding your upcoming wedding, I wanted to share two blog posts I did about marrying a fisherman. Even if you’re planning a simple wedding there are great tips from my wedding planner and a free downloadable checklist that may be helpful, too. Also, congratulations!  So excited for you and your fisherman and family! 🙂

Hey, Jeanene! Thank you so much for sharing more about you and your family. What an incredible adventure it has been! Congrats (and thank you!) on becoming a teacher. I’m sure that was a game-changer in many respects. Glad to hear life is calm waters right now for you and yours. You mention that the fishing life has never been easy – so relatable, and I feel that deeply. If you’re open to sharing, what areas were the most difficult for you? The family?  So great to chat and learn from a POCF who not only gets it but has been there for 32 years!

Hey, Nikki! So happy to have you in our group! Welcome to the wild world of being a POCF. Where do you live, and what does your fisherman fish? If you have any questions, please feel free to ask the group in the OPEN CHAT section of the forum. We are here for you!

                    xo, Megan

That’s a great piece of advice for POCFs and women in general! Over 32 of being with a fisherman, how do you like to spend your independent time/treat yourself? I know many women in our community struggle with this. As you said, don’t expect him to change, but we can learn to change ourselves to make our experience as POCFs more enjoyable. Would love to learn how others make this happen. Thank you, Jeanene! Hope you’re doing well!

Hey, Lori! I’m so happy you found our forum! Meeting you at PME in Seattle last fall was such a thrill. I can’t wait to learn more about your life/experience as a POCF. I love your advice about home building – it made me laugh! And we’d love to read your pieces! If you have time, please post a link to your piece in Fishermen’s News in the Open Chat forum. I know you’re the woman in charge up there by other fishermen I’ve met in Santa Barbara. We actually met a couple (their names escape me now) who had eaten one of your frozen dinners they’d bought at a fundraiser (I believe). Small freakin world! I know you’re busy as hell, being the breadwinner now and all, but I would LOVE to interview you for our new POCF podcast I’m launching at the end of the month/beginning of May. It truly is a team effort to be in a relationship with a fisherman in many forms, and your experience proves that!! Thank you so much again for being in our group. It feels like a real “catch” to have you here. (No pun intended, but they happen.) Hope this message finds you well, Lori!

Dawn, it was a great show! Totally unexpected, I have to say. It was less  60s nostalgia for a mix of jazz, rock, and R&B known as “neo soul.”  Smooth AF though. Worth the ticket for sure! Hope you get to see him soon. Summer tour is upon us! Whoo hoo!

Me and my Fisherman Chris Dabney at Leon Bridges concert

Working with my web team to get the bugs fixed to make photos upright, but here is me and my fisherman last fall at the Leon Bridges show.  🙂
