Imagine my surprise when Chris returned from Bristol Bay, Alaska, by the 4th of July this year. 😳🤑🤔😅
I explain it all in the latest podcast, including my moment of financial panic and what 2 POCFs do to maintain financial stability when the going gets tough. (Both have been with their Fisherman for over 30 and 40 years, so they know what’s up!)

This comment is WHY I created our private communities. I wanted a place for Partners of Commercial Fishermen to have their own safe space to share thoughts and ask questions to others who *actually* get their unique life.
In our community, we’ve got POCFs who are new in their relationships to those who have been with their partners/running a fishing business for over forty years! This means, there is a treasure trove of POCFs who can help with what you’re going through because they’ve been there, too.

⚓️ Facts: Plenty of Partners of Commercial Fishermen solo parent for days, weeks, or up to six months at a time (maybe longer, depending on the fishery), and we have several in our community who also care for aging parents.
Aging happens to us all, yet caretaking kids or elder adults can be easier than you think.
I’m honored to have Dr. Melissa Batchelor @melissabphd_thenurse on this week. She hosts the podcast This is Getting Old: Moving Towards An Age-Friendly World and is also an experienced nurse and nurse practitioner (with many acronyms behind her name) based in Wilmington, North Carolina. This episode is full of wisdom and helpful tips and hits home on so many levels!

The fact that our commercial fishermen are responsible for wild-caught seafood only adds to how delicious this is. Chris and I call this our “happy meal,” and we probably eat wild-caught salmon 4 to 6 times a month. I’d eat it more if I could. Having it tonight, btw 😜
Wild-caught salmon + a starch like rice or potatoes + greens like broccoli, spinach, or kale hits every time!
🐟 Recipe for Wild-caught salmon 🐟
Olive oil (optional)
Salt (optional)
Pepper (optional)
Bake at 400 for 20 mins (or until cooked through).
You can't mess it up. Delish and full of the good stuff - brain, joint, skin, heart health…the list goes on.
